Relaxing Face and Neck Massage for Performers and Speakers

Relaxing Face and Neck Massage for Performers and Speakers

The objective of this post is to provide an opportunity to encourage drainage of the lymph nodes in the face, head and neck. This is especially helpful for people who have had chronic or acute sinus issues, allergies, headaches, ear issues, nose, throat, neck and shoulder issues as well.  In Ayurvedic terms, this area is also known as Visshudha (5th chakra) and deals with speaking your truth, authenticity and imparting knowledge to others. It is imperative for everyone, especially performers and speakers, to have optimum functionality of Visshudha!

Lymph nodes are located all over the body, just beneath the subcutaneous layer of skin. Very gentle pressure is needed to coax the proper circulation of the lymph, which is the fluid that circulates through the lymphatic system.

Challenge question: Does daily facial lymphatic drainage massage improve sinus, ear, throat, headache, neck and/or shoulder issues over a seven day trial? You are welcome to try this challenge and inform me of your experience. We’re looking for progress, even in one area. If one area improves, it will eventually improve for all symptomatic areas!

Procedure: Look at the diagram of the lymph system and think of it as a road map of the face, head and neck.  Begin massage by using a feather light touch.

This image captures some of the lymph nodes on the sides of the face and neck.

Here are some helpful affirmations that correspond to Vissudha (5th chakra):

  1. I express myself truthfully.
  2. I easily communicate my feelings.
  3. I express my creativity.
  4. I share my experience of life.
  5. I listen to higher wisdom and tune in.
